Calendar of Events & Important Dates

Below you will find a calendar of events and important dates that our CPAs at Dayton Tax & Accounting think you should know.

There are a number of dates to keep track of. Here we mention dates for both businesses and individuals.

Important Dates:

  • January 15, 2010 - 4th quarter estimates for individuals are due. If you don't think you've paid enough into the federal government and don't want to be penalized, contact us. If you have a job (with federal tax taken out) or have made payments, you should be fine.
Other quarterly estimates are due in mid April, mid June, and mid September - roughly the 15th of those months.

  • December 31, 2009 - Deduction Deadline. Last day to take deductions (with the exception of various retirement contributions) on your return.
It is critical we finalize all tax planning by year end to take maximum advantage of various tax loopholes.

  • January 31, 2010 - You should have received all W-2's and 1099's by now. If you have not, contact the company.

  • March 15, 2010 - Corporate tax returns are due.

  • April 15, 2010 - Due date for 2009 individual tax returns (1040's, states, and cities) and partnerships. Don't wait until the last minute. An extension can be filed on your behalf. For Dayton Tax & Accounting to prepare your returns by this date, we will need all information by April 1 (this date could change).

  • There are certain types of retirement accounts that allow you to take the deduction up to the time you file, including extensions. The dates vary, so discuss this with your CPA.

  • June 15 and September 15, 2009 - 2nd & 3rd quarter estimates were due.

  • For businesses there are payroll taxes, CAT taxes for Ohio, franchise taxes, sales tax, unclaimed funds, and other due dates that we monitor and handle so you can focus on business at hand.

More dates to come. These are the pertinent events taking place in the near term.

Remember, if you have retired, taken on a new business, or other major changes in your income, allowing us to do an estimate may prove very beneficial in your overall tax due.
